Lumbar Region. Osteopathic clinical assessment and treatment including the major osteopathic techniques
This module will give the students a modern clinical view of a very common problem –lower back pain. Students will learn how to differentiate between discogenic, myofascial and other types of lower back pain syndromes and what osteopathic techniques would be the best for each clinical situation.
This course reviews the anatomy of the lumbar region, followed by assessment and treatment for dysfunctions and conditions related to this region. Numerous treatment techniques including myofascial release, soft tissue, muscle energy, counterstrain, facilitated positional release, ligamentous articular strain, oscillatory and low-velocity high amplitude techniques will be covered.
